Org OKRs skill
The Org OKRs skill is an org skill in the Optimizely Opal Skills Directory that keeps your company's goals and key results in context so every team decision, campaign, and deliverable is aligned to what the business is working toward.
It applies to everyone in your organization. An administrator installs and configures it once.
Skill details
- Shortcut – /org-OKRs
- Type – Org skill
- Setup – Required
What the skill does
- Keeps your company OKRs, team OKRs, scoring conventions, and current focus in context.
- Adds a short alignment frame to plans, briefs, and prioritization requests: which key result the work moves, how, and whether it fits current focus. Misaligned work is labeled "no current OKR".
- Calculates status from pace against time elapsed, with a landing forecast and pipeline coverage for revenue key results.
- Gives a "what matters right now" priorities snapshot, and drafts, reviews, and scores OKRs.
Before you begin
- You must have the Manage Instructions permission to install this skill. If you do not, click Request in the Skills Directory to ask an administrator to install it.
- If a goal-tracking, BI, analytics, or experimentation tool is connected, Opal reads status from it. Otherwise it uses the latest figures you provide and states their age.
- Have your answers and files ready. Opal asks for them during setup.
Information Opal asks for
Opal asks for the following during setup. You can skip optional items.
- Company and OKR Cadence (Required) – Company context, cycle structure, and the current period. Without dates, Opal assumes calendar quarters.
- Current Company OKRs (Required) – One per line, with baseline, target, current value, owner, and whether each is committed or aspirational.
- What the Business Is Focused On Right Now (Required) – The tie-breaker between aligned work, and your "not now" list.
- OKR Document or Latest Check-In (Optional) – A file that wins over typed answers. Re-uploading your latest check-in is the fastest way to refresh the skill.
- Team OKRs and Owners (Optional) – If you skip this, only company-level alignment is available.
- Scoring and Check-In Conventions (Optional) – Defaults are 0.0-to-1.0 scoring with 1.0 expected for committed key results and 0.7 for aspirational ones.
- Anything Specific to Your Team (Optional) – House rules. By default Opal treats OKR figures as internal and names people by role.
Install the skill
- Go to Directory > Skills.
- Find Org OKRs and click Install.
- In the Setup required dialog, click Set up in chat.
- Answer Opal's questions and upload any files it asks for.
- Confirm the details when Opal asks.
For details about browsing, installing, updating, and uninstalling skills, see Skills Directory overview.
Use the skill
After setup, enter /org-OKRs in Opal Chat to run the skill on demand. Opal also applies it automatically when your request matches its When to use conditions. Try prompts like the following:
- Does this campaign brief line up with our current OKRs?
- What's working against our company OKRs this quarter?
- What matters most right now?
Things to know
- Because this is an org skill, everyone in your organization can see your company targets through Opal. If you restrict OKR visibility, limit what you type or upload.
- OKRs expire every cycle, but setup doesn't refresh itself. Edit the skill or upload your latest check-in at the start of each cycle.
Update the skill
When Optimizely publishes a new version, Update displays on the skill's card in the Skills Directory. Opal keeps the information you provided during setup and asks only for anything the new version adds. See Update a skill.
