Payments are central to an ecommerce system. Optimizely Commerce Connect offers both default payment methods and the ability to create your own payment solutions.
Payment gateways
A payment type is passed to the payment gateway, which executes the payment transaction with the payment system. One payment type is associated with each payment gateway.
Payment plugins
The Payment plugin of Optimizely Commerce Connect is available when building solutions with the payment processing parts of Commerce Connect. A payment type is passed to the payment plugin, which executes the payment transaction via the payment system.
Payment providers
During checkout, a payment type is passed for processing through a Payment gateway to a payment provider . Optimizely provides code samples for some common third-party payment providers like PayPal.
