Set up a catalog's structure with products and variants/SKUs based on how you intend to work with the data. You can use a product grouping under the categories or work directly with stock-keeping units (SKUs).
Work with catalogs
The Optimizely Commerce Connect Catalog subsystem, architecture, and APIs provide great flexibility for designing and implementing catalogs. There is no single way to design a catalog.

When using multi-site, you can create site-specific catalogs.
Catalog content
Optimizely Commerce Connect provides a content provider that can serve any catalog content as IContent. That means you can use an IContentRepository to work with the content as you do in the Optimizely Content Management System (CMS).
Assets and media
The asset management system supports generic, content-based files used by Optimizely products such as the Content Management System (CMS) and Commerce Connect. Assets, such as blocks and media files in the CMS, are accessible via the Assets pane of the Edit user interface and the product catalog in Commerce Connect.
Product associations (related entries)
Common examples include Up-selling – Presents newer or better versions of the product. For example, display newer models in the same product line when displaying a television.
Event-driven catalog indexing
The event-driven model for indexing the catalog ensures that changes to catalog data are automatically updated in the search index. The Indexing Processor State section is located at Commerce > Administration > Catalog Indexing (version 13 and lower Commerce Manager > System Settings > SearchIndex ) .
Catalog product search
The catalog search API provides the functionality for finding Optimizely Commerce Connect products via two methods search providers and ICatalogSystem. Catalog Search API uses an index-based search engine to provide powerful search functionalities.
