Build an app
Overview
The Optimizely Connect Platform (OCP) app development lifecycle guides you from initial planning to public release. Each of the following stages depends on the previous one Plan your app – Choose your app type, plan your version strategy, and verify prerequisites.
Plan your app
Plan your app's scope, type, and versioning strategy before you start building. Ensure you have the following OCP CLI – Install the OCP command-line interface and configure it with your Developer Portal API key.
Register and scaffold your app
Use the OCP CLI to register your app ID and scaffold the project structure. Register your app and complete the prompts to give your app a unique app ID and name, define OCP as the target product, and mark the app as shareable with other developers in your organization.
Build your app
After you register and scaffold your app, you can start building. This section covers the key aspects of app development Settings form – Your app's settings tab lets users configure authentication and preferences.
Test your app
Thorough testing ensures your app works as expected before you submit it for review. OCP supports unit testing, local testing, and pre-release installations for end-to-end verification.
Release your app
When your app is ready, validate and publish it to the OCP App Directory . To release it publicly, submit it for review by Optimizely.
Troubleshoot your app
OCP apps log messages using the App SDK logger to assist in development and debugging. Log access differs by role.
