Deploy DXP
You can deploy solutions from your development environment to any cloud environment as code packages. You can also move databases and BLOBs between environments using the source environment API .
Smooth deployment
Smooth deployment, or Zero Downtime Deployments (ZDD), applies database changes without taking the site offline or using a maintenance page. The deployment engine creates a cloned environment that includes a copy of the Web App code and the database.
Troubleshoot smooth deployment
When you are ready to recover, start a deployment. The deployment system will automatically detect the existing maintenance mode and resume the smooth deployment process.
Deploy a new CMS site
This is an onboarding scenario for a first-time/onboarding deployment of a new site based on the Optimizely sample templates , to use from start for development in a cloud environment. A new site like this does not require database restore, and the database schema is created during initial deployment.
Deploy an existing CMS site
This is an onboarding scenario for an existing site which you want to move to a cloud-based environment for the first time , for further development and maintenance there. In this case, you already have a database with content, and you will need to get that restored to the correct application, which will be done by Optimizely.

This topic uses Visual Studio with the Optimizely extensions and publish profiles. However, you can also use other deployment methods .
