Use custom roles with Opti ID
Creating custom roles with Optimizely Configured Commerce and Opti ID involves a few steps to ensure proper permissions and access. Custom roles created in Configured Commerce do not automatically sync with the Admin Center, and vice-versa.
Get started with users
Website and console users in Optimizely Configured Commerce help you manage information and security. They contain information for accessing websites and the Admin Console, such as username, profile information, default customer, assigned roles, and assigned websites.

Create console and website users
As an administrator in Optimizely Configured Commerce, you can create console and website users. You can create both console and website users in the Admin Console, and you can also create website users on the storefront.
Add users with the import template
You can add users in Optimizely Configured Commerce using the import template. The template has data columns with user fields for Configured Commerce.
Manage users
You can edit user information by going to User in the Admin Console and clicking the Edit icon beside one. This lets you edit the following information Email Address First Name Last Name Last Sign In Active – Users can be activated or deactivated using this checkbox.
Role permissions
Optimizely Configured Commerce has unique roles for the Admin Console and storefront to manage various tasks. Admin Console roles are prefaced with "ISC " to differentiate them from website user roles.
Role-based security
The Admin Console in Optimizely Configured Commerce uses role-based security. Each user is assigned one or more roles, which control fields and menu permissions in the Admin Console.
User administration settings
Optimizely Configured Commerce provides several ways to test and simplify the user experience. You can enable the user's email address to be used as the username to simplify the user experience in Optimizely Configured Commerce.
Disable local login for users with single sign-on
When you have single sign-on (SSO) enabled in Optimizely Configured Commerce, you can disable local login for console and website users to prevent them logging in with a normal username and password. The Admin Console has two settings to disable local login one for Admin Console users and one for website users.
