Get started with tax calculators
Optimizely Configured Commerce provides two different ways to calculate taxes - use the built-in tax calculator or integrate with a 3rd-party tax system. Our built-in tax calculator works well for customers who are looking to provide a rough estimate of taxes for an order, but are not looking for fully tax-compliant calculations.
Set up the dual-rate tax calculator
Optimizely Configured Commerce is capable of handling dual tax rates to support situations where two different taxes are assessed. This is evident in Canada, where provinces are required to calculate and display both the national tax and provincial tax throughout the site.
Manage tax exemptions
Prior to completing the steps listed below, the permissions in the Application Dictionary must be customized to expose the taxExemption entity. Configure tax computation
Optimizely Configured Commerce can handle tax computation in various ways Configured Commerce native capabilities to manage taxes External third-party tax engines (that is, Avalara, Cybersource). The system can be configured to use any of these taxation strategies across all sites within the Configured Commerce platform.
Enable Value Added Tax (VAT)
In the European Union, VAT is charged by all VAT-registered companies to sellers within the same country. Sales to other countries do not require VAT.
