Get started with shipping and carriers
Optimizely Configured Commerce lets you set up and configure a shipping program that provides a variety of delivery options and charges to shoppers on your website. Your shipping program can include only one carrier or multiple carriers, depending on the delivery options you want to offer on your websites.
Add a location
Locations in Optimizely Configured Commerce provide customers with the physical locations of your dealers, branches, or any locations you choose to display. Purchase a key from the Google Maps Platform https //cloud.
Assign a location to a website
After you add a location, you must assign it to a website. Go to Admin Console > Websites .
Understand the order packager
This article explains how Optimizely Configured Commerce determines packages for rating a customer order. Shipping rating services generally need to know how many boxes, what dimensions of boxes, and the weight of boxes to estimate the shipping rate.
Create a carrier
The Admin Console in Optimizely Configured Commerce manages all carriers for your website. This lets you update carriers in one location and have those updates apply to all assigned websites.
Create carrier services
A Carrier Service creates a method to ship packages; for example, Ground, Overnight, or Two-Day shipping. Carrier services use ship codes and the ERP system to ship packages automatically after an order is submitted.
Create a carrier package record
The Package record defines the dimensions of the box that will be used to calculate the freight charge. Because you will want the calculated freight charge to be as accurate as possible, it is important that you choose the standard or most commonly used package.
Assign carriers to a website
Once a Carrier is added in Shipping & Fulfillment , the Carrier then needs to be added to a corresponding website. A Carrier can be added to one, all, or a specified number of sites depending on the user's need.
Create flat-rate carrier services
In this example, a user wants to create different flat rate shipping options for the customer. The steps below are targeting the following three scenarios in which a user wants to create three different shipping options for customers Flat fee ground shipping Flat fee of $9.
Create the FedEx carrier record
You can create the UPS carrier record in Optimizely Configured Commerce. Go to Admin Console > Shipping & Fulfillment > Carriers and click Add New Carrier .

Create additional charges for a shipping service
In some instances, an additional charge is needed for a specific shipping service. For example, if the price of gas has increased or additional time is needed for carriers to deliver orders due to road construction, an additional charge may be added to ground delivery service.
Work with product vendors
The system supports a vendor structure to help determine the primary vendor for a given product. Products are assigned to a singular vendor which could be the manufacturer, distributor, or brand.
Track shipments
Optimizely Configured Commerce provides an option to display shipment/order tracking information both on the website and in the Admin Console. Displaying this information requires data to exist within the Shipment database tables.
Enable one-time ship to address
Use one-time ship-to functionality on your Optimizely Configured Commerce website to give customers the ability to specify one-time shipping addresses without this resulting in new ship-to records in your ERP or other system of record during checkout. The review, pay and order confirmation pages and order confirmation email display the one-time ship-to address.
Enable will-call and store pick up
Will-call and store pickup in Optimizely Configured Commerce lets customers choose nearby warehouses to pick up their orders, verify inventory at selected locations, and indicate pickup dates. This increases customer self-service, improves handling of time-sensitive orders, and lets customers choose the fulfillment method that meets their needs.
Add weights to products
Simply setting up Carriers does not mean they always show up as a selectable option on the checkout page. Carriers that use a Rating Service, such as FedEx and UPS, require products to have an identified weight before the carriers appear on the website.
Troubleshoot FedEx and UPS rating services
Setting up carriers does not mean they automatically display as selectable options on the checkout page. If no carriers display after set up, or you receive log errors, troubleshoot these areas by verifying the following The account, API keys, and passwords are correct, and the services are valid.
