Cart and checkout
Get started with carts
This article explains the standard Configured Commerce process for defining and maintaining orders and carts. When a user accesses Configured Commerce, regardless of being logged in, a record is created in the CustomerOrder table, which is equal to a cart.
Set up cart provider
When setting up a website, one configuration option to consider is how carts are assigned. By default, carts are assigned to the User.
Cart status label definitions
The cart status in Optimizely Configured Commerce helps you quickly identify which stage of the shopping process the cart has reached. Here is a list of the status labels and what that status means.
Saved orders and abandoned carts overview
A user who is logged into the storefront can select the Save Order button on the Cart page to save an order for later review. The saved order is retrieved through the use of a cookie which records the Cart ID.
Remove all items from a cart
Customers can remove all items from the cart with a single button. This feature is active by default.
Revert a cart to a saved order
Configured Commerce allows Admin Console Users to revert an item placed in the Cart by a User to a Saved Order. In the event that an submitted order fails to properly submit to the ERP, such as faulty payment information, the Admin can then return the order to the customer as a Saved Order found in their My Account > Saved Orders.
Enable one-page checkout
One-page checkout in Optimizely Configured Commerce provides a smoother checkout experience for customers. They can easily access and edit items in their cart anytime during the checkout process and view cart items across multiple devices when logged in.
