Manage attributes
Filter products within Optimizely Configured Commerce using attribute management. Set attributes and attribute values for each product to allow users to filter categories while browsing, or filter results while searching.
Create an attribute
Attributes are broad properties such as color, fabric, or wattage. These properties are assigned to a category, and attribute values (like red, cotton, or 60W) are assigned to products within that category.
Create an attribute value
Attribute Values are the defined, valid values that are available for the specified Attribute. For example, if the Attribute is Size, possible Attribute Values could be 28", 32", 46", and so on.
Assign attributes to a category
Attributes are assigned to categories of products that may share similar properties across all products. For example, a category of Goggles may share Attributes such as Lens Type, Size, and Gender.
Add attribute values to a product
After assigning Attributes to Categories, assign Attribute Values to their respective Products within the Category. Go to Admin Console > Catalog > Products .
Import attributes
Importing Attribute Types and Attribute Values is a quick way to populate the attributes necessary to improve the website user experience. For more information on the benefits of Attributes, review the Manage attributes article.
Filter with attributes
After you create Attribute Types and Attribute Values and assign them to their respective Categories and/or Products, configure the appropriate Settings to reveal Attribute Values on the website, or to use Attribute Values as filters in website search results. To enable Attribute Values to appear on the website, or to enable search filtering by Attribute Values, configure the following Settings Attribute Filters If Setting Attribute Filters = ON , Attribute Values appear on the left side of the product list pages, sorted by their Attribute Type.
