The Event API lets you send event data to Optimizely from web, mobile, or server-side applications. Optimizely calculates your experiment metrics from this data and displays them on the [Optimizely Experiment Results page](docId\:mrUblIuNVOZc1dvjWdsbw). The event data is also available in raw format through the [Experimentation Events Export](docId\:rhaO2NJjkrjb-aZXvX7_Q).

Optimizely's own clients and SDKs use this same API to send event data, so your data is processed the same way regardless of how it is received.
