**Note**

The terms *audiences* and *segments* are interchangeable. Optimizely has updated all *segments* to *audiences* on the **Audiences** page and is updating the UI on other pages. See [Understand audiences](docId\:v-gHiL9jfINBey-4QNtFM) to get information on audiences.
:::

Import your Mixpanel audiences to Optimizely Data Platform (ODP) as real-time audiences. Then, use those real-time audiences in Optimizely Web Experimentation, Optimizely Feature Experimentation, or Optimizely Content Management System (CMS) Visitor Groups.

## Considerations

- This integration leverages Mixpanel’s custom webhooks to sync your Mixpanel audiences to ODP, where ODP converts the audiences to real-time audiences.
- You can select your preferred customer identifier in Mixpanel to pass to ODP.
- Audience changes are reflected in real time.

## Prerequisites

- Mixpanel account
- ODP account
- Optimizely Web Experimentation, Optimizely Feature Experimentation, or CMS 11 or 12 account

## Enable the integration

1. Go to the ODP **Data Setup > App Directory**.
2. Select the **Mixpanel** app.
3. Click **Install App**.
4. Copy the **Webhook URL**, **Username**, and **Password** from the **Settings** tab for use in the Mixpanel webhook configuration.

### Configure the ODP webhook and audiences in Mixpanel

1. Go to **Data Management > Integrations > Custom Webhook** in Mixpanel.
2. Expand the webhook drop-down list, click **Add Connection**, and complete the following.
3. Enter a name for the webhook connector, like *ODP Real-Time Audiences*, and paste the URL, username, and password you copied from ODP in step 4 of the [Enable the integration](docId\:ja9qOn_lIxDoCtDEW3WzI) section.
4. Choose the Mixpanel properties you want to export to ODP, like a customer ID.
5. Click **Continue**.
6. Go to **Data Management > Cohorts** and build the audiences you want to sync to ODP.

For each audience that you want to sync to ODP:

1. Expand the options, click **Export to**, and select the ODP webhook you previously created.
2. Select **One-time export** or **Recurring sync** and click **Begin Sync**. The recurring sync occurs every 30 minutes.

Now, your Mixpanel audiences sync to ODP as lists (prefixed with `mixpanel_`), which populate the ODP real-time segments (prefixed with `Mixpanel -`).

## Use your Mixpanel audiences in other Optimizely products

You must configure the ODP integration with your desired Optimizely product before you can access your Mixpanel audiences in other Optimizely products.
