With Optimizely Content Marketing Platform (CMP), you can make asset fields mandatory in the Library and in tasks so users know which fields are required.

## Turn on mandatory fields

### Library

1. Go to **your avatar > Fields**.
2. Click **More (...) > Edit** beside the label you want to edit, such as **Content Format**.
3. Go to **Advanced Settings**.

4. Select the box for **Library Asset Upload**.
5. Click **Update**.

**Note**

This setting applies only to assets in the Library.

### Workflows and tasks

1. Go to **your avatar > Workflows**.
2. Click **More (...) > Edit** beside the workflow you want to edit.
3. Go to the **Fields** tab.
4. Add your fields.
5. Click **More (...)** to see options:
   - **Asset Fields only** – Only show the fields for the asset within a task, rather than show the fields at the task-level.
   - **Mandatory** – Make the field required to complete the task.

If you use both options together, users must complete the asset fields before completing the task.

6. Click **Save**.

When users upload an asset to a task in the workflow, they see the required fields.

If a user tries to complete the task before filling in the required fields, an error message displays that they must complete those fields.
