[Entra ID](https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/active-directory/) (formerly Azure AD) is a multi-tenant, cloud-based directory and identity management service from Microsoft. Entra ID provides single sign-on (SSO) access to many cloud-based SaaS applications and includes a full suite of identity management capabilities.

[OAuth](https://oauth.net/) is an open standard for authorization used by Entra ID. [OpenID Connect](https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/active-directory/develop/active-directory-protocols-openid-connect-code) is built on top of OAuth and extends it so it can serve as an authentication protocol rather than only an authorization protocol.
