**Quote Extraction** is an agent in Agent Platform. It extracts five to ten important quotes from a document, file, or URL.

- **Challenge** – Manually sifting through long documents to extract the most important and relevant quotes is inefficient and time-consuming.
- **Agent outcome** – Extracts important and relevant quotes from source documents or text.
- **Value** – Time saved, efficient content creation.

## Install agent

Install the agent from the **Directory**.

1. Go to **Directory > Agents**.
2. (Optional) Begin entering *Quote Extraction* or use the drop-down list filters to narrow the list.
3. Click **Install** on **Quote Extraction** to add it to your Mark instance.

## Use the agent

In [Mark chat](docId\:dtNBEttEGVvkhNkwNypLM), enter *@quote\_extraction* and provide the following details:

- (Optional) `content` – Text or a URL to extract quotes from.
- (Optional) `file` – A file to extract quotes from.

**Note**

Provide at least one item for `content` or `file`.

The agent delivers a table of five to ten verbatim quotes with author attribution and source location for each.

## Details

The following are the default details of the **Quote Extraction** agent. After you [install the agent in your Mark instance](docId\:wmbLWE2QKSo0GNJJMNgW2), you can customize these details based on your organization's needs. See [Manage agents](docId\:SSeNiblVMXwVvDR_lhtvI) for instructions.

### Input variables

The **Quote Extraction** agent takes the following input:

- (Optional) `content`
- (Optional) `file`

### Tools

The **Quote Extraction** agent uses the following tools internally to process your request:

- `browse_web`
- `read_file_content`

### Additional details

The agent uses the following default configuration:

- **Inference level** – Standard. Provides reliable answers.
- **Files** – None.
- **Output** – Text.
