The **Personal OKRs** skill is a personal skill in the Optimizely Opal Skills Directory that stores your personal goals and key results so every task and output can be prioritized against what matters most to you right now.

It applies only to you. Any Opal user can install and configure it.

## Skill details

- **Shortcut** – `/personal-OKRs`
- **Type** – Personal skill
- **Setup** – Required

## What the skill does

- Acts as your personal OKR coach: rewrites rough goals into outcome-based objectives and key results.
- Runs a five-minute weekly check-in. It measures pace against time elapsed and gives a confidence score with on-track, at-risk, and off-track bands.
- Treats each initiative as a testable bet, and lists no more than three priorities with one concrete move each.
- Supports midpoint reviews and end-of-cycle retrospectives. Your goals stay private.

## Before you begin

- Any Opal user can install this skill. Opal saves it as your own personal skill.
- Have your answers and files ready. Opal asks for them during setup.

## Information Opal asks for

Opal asks for the following during setup. You can skip optional items.

- **Your Role and What You Own** (Required) – Sets the scope of your key results and your OKR cycle length. The default is a 13-week quarter.
- **Your Current Goals or OKRs** (Required) – One per line. Rough goals are fine.
- **Team or Company Goals You Support** (Optional) – If you skip this, Opal asks once and otherwise marks alignment as unknown.
- **Your OKR Sheet or Last Check-In** (Optional) – A file Opal classifies before using.
- **How You Like to Check In** (Optional) – Defaults are weekly check-ins, 1-to-10 confidence, and 0.0-to-1.0 scoring.

## Install the skill

1. Go to **Directory > Skills**.
2. Find **Personal OKRs** and click **Install**.
3. In the **Setup required** dialog, click **Set up in chat**.
4. Answer Opal's questions and upload any files it asks for.
5. Confirm the details when Opal asks.

## Use the skill

After setup, enter `/personal-OKRs` in Opal Chat to run the skill on demand. Opal also applies it automatically when your request matches its **When to use** conditions. Try prompts like the following:

- *Help me turn my goals for this quarter into proper OKRs.*
- *Weekly check-in: here's what happened this week.*
- *What should I focus on this week?*

## Things to know

- Opal doesn't remember progress between conversations. Each check-in ends with a one-line log. Paste it back at your next check-in so Opal can track trends.
- Your goals from setup go stale each cycle. Edit the skill or paste your new OKRs at the start of each cycle.
- Opal can't remind you to check in. You start the conversation.
- Install the Org OKRs skill as well if you want Opal to align your goals to company goals.

## Update the skill

When Optimizely publishes a new version, **Update** displays on the skill's card in the Skills Directory. Opal keeps the information you provided during setup and asks only for anything the new version adds. See [Update a skill](docId\:jw_PeWvKOXocy3ihL5h9w).
