The **LinkedIn Ads Report Guidelines** skill is an org skill in the Optimizely Opal Skills Directory that transforms raw LinkedIn Ads data into ranked, dollar-quantified recommendations on which campaigns to scale, hold, fix, or pause, replacing passive metric recitations with actionable decisions.

It applies to everyone in your organization. An administrator installs and configures it once.

\{ /\* TODO: The PRD marks all three inputs as required, but the Confluence tracker said LinkedIn Ads fields were still placeholders. Confirm the final list. \*/ }

## Skill details

- **Shortcut** – `/linkedin-ads-report-formatting`
- **Type** – Org skill
- **Setup** – Required

## What the skill does

- Turns LinkedIn Ads data into ranked, dollar-quantified recommendations on which campaigns to scale, hold, fix, or pause.
- Compares each campaign's share of conversions with its share of spend, and quantifies budget reallocation, cost ceilings, and modeled return on ad spend.
- Starts every report with a bottom line, then a KPI table, campaign scorecard, dollar-ranked findings, and recommended actions.
- Is read-only. Opal recommends changes, and you apply them in Campaign Manager.

## Before you begin

- You must have the **Manage Instructions** permission to install this skill. If you do not, click **Request** in the Skills Directory to ask an administrator to install it.
- Connect LinkedIn Ads in Opal before you use this skill.
- Have your answers and files ready. Opal asks for them during setup.

## Information Opal asks for

Opal asks for the following during setup. You can skip optional items.

- **The Business, Offer and Target Audience** (Required) – Your offers, deal shape (sales-led, self-serve, or account-based), sales cycle, and targeting scope.
- **Performance Targets, Deal Math and Guardrails** (Required) – Monthly budget, target cost per lead or acquisition, deal economics, and constraints such as protected campaigns. Enter "not tracked" if you don't have revenue or close-rate data.
- **Media Plan, ICP Document, or Past Report** (Required) – One file that sets the plan of record and the report depth. If you have several, choose one or merge them first.

## Install the skill

1. Go to **Directory > Skills**.
2. Find **LinkedIn Ads Report Guidelines** and click **Install**.
3. In the **Setup required** dialog, click **Set up in chat**.
4. Answer Opal's questions and upload any files it asks for.
5. Confirm the details when Opal asks.

For details about browsing, installing, updating, and uninstalling skills, see [Skills Directory overview](docId\:jw_PeWvKOXocy3ihL5h9w).

## Use the skill

After setup, enter `/linkedin-ads-report-formatting` in Opal Chat to run the skill on demand. Opal also applies it automatically when your request matches its **When to use** conditions. Try prompts like the following:

- *Audit my LinkedIn Ads account.*
- *Where is my money going on LinkedIn?*
- *Which LinkedIn campaigns should I scale or pause?*

## Things to know

- A campaign needs at least 15 conversions to be judged, and results from small samples are labeled directional.
- Your uploaded file outranks your typed answers, and both outrank live data when they disagree.
- Opal does not report frequency, demographics, or native return on ad spend.

## Update the skill

When Optimizely publishes a new version, **Update** displays on the skill's card in the Skills Directory. Opal keeps the information you provided during setup and asks only for anything the new version adds. See [Update a skill](docId\:jw_PeWvKOXocy3ihL5h9w).
