**Competitive Insights** is an Optimizely Agent Platform agent that researches a single competitor. The agent generates a competitive intelligence report covering the past 30 days.

## Install agent

Install the agent from the **Directory**.

1. Go to **Directory > Agents**.
2. (Optional) Begin entering *Competitive Insights* or use the drop-down list filters to narrow the list.
3. Click **Install** on **Competitive Insights** to add it to your Agent Platform instance.

## Use the agent

In [Mark chat](docId\:dtNBEttEGVvkhNkwNypLM), enter *@competitive\_insights* and provide the following:

- `Competitor` – A competitor name or URL to research, for example *Acme Corp* or *acme.io*.

The agent returns the report as a [canvas](docId:1_VDSKJ_RG0FEQe0MCTv1) (an interactive document in Mark chat that you can edit alongside Agent Platform). The report includes the following sections:

- Executive summary
- Recent headlines and news
- Marketing activity
- Thought leader and analyst commentary
- Community signals
- Next best actions grouped by high, medium, and low priority

The agent also includes high-impact events from the past 60 days, such as mergers or major funding rounds. The agent labels each event with its date.

These are the default details for the **Competitive Insights** agent. After you [install the agent in your Agent Platform instance](docId\:GctHf8V29Hru7zySbIPSC), customize these details for your organization's needs. See [Manage agents](docId\:SSeNiblVMXwVvDR_lhtvI) for instructions.

### Input variables

The **Competitive Insights** agent takes one input variable: `Competitor`.

### Tools

The **Competitive Insights** agent uses the following tools internally to process your request:

- `browse_web`
- `get_today`
- `search_web`
- `create_canvas`

### Additional details

The agent uses the following default configuration:

- **Inference level** – Pro. Provides maximum reasoning depth.
- **Files** – None.
- **Output** – Text.
