The Branded PowerPoint Deck skill is an organization skill in the Optimizely Opal Skills Directory. It reads your organization's master PowerPoint template one time and creates a permanent deck-building skill. The skill generates presentations with your exact colors, fonts, and layouts.

The skill applies to everyone in your organization when you choose **Organization** during configuration. Creating an organization skill requires the **Manage Skills** permission.

## What the skill does

The skill does the following:

- Reads your organization's master PowerPoint template once, including every slide, color, font, and layout.
- Creates a second, permanent organization skill that builds presentations from your template. The skill you install does not build decks. It creates the second skill that does.
- After configuration, anyone in your organization can use the generated skill. It builds a deck from a brief, rebrands an existing deck, or adds slides without changing existing ones.

## Before you begin

Confirm the following before you install the skill:

- You must have the **Manage Skills** permission to install this skill. If you do not, click **Request** in the Skills Directory to ask an administrator to install it.
- Your master template must be a `.pptx` file. Opal does not change your original template.
- Have your answers and files ready. Opal asks for them during configuration.

## Information Opal asks for

Opal asks for the following during configuration. Skip optional items if you do not need them.

- **Master Template** – Your organization's master PowerPoint template as a `.pptx` file. If Opal cannot find a `.pptx` file, configuration stops and tells you.
- (Optional) **Deck Specifics and Notes** – Anything the template does not display, such as rules for when to use each layout.

## Install the skill

Go to **Directory > Skills**, find **Branded PowerPoint Deck**, and click **Install**. In the **Setup required** dialog, click **Set up in chat**. Opal asks who the skill is for, **Myself (Personal)** or **Organization**. Opal then asks whether to answer the remaining questions in chat or upload a document. ## Use the skill

After configuration, build decks with the generated skill, not with the Branded PowerPoint Deck skill. During configuration, Opal suggests a name and shortcut for the generated skill, such as **Optimizely PowerPoint Template** and `/optimizely-deck`. Enter that shortcut in Opal Chat to run the generated skill on demand. Opal also applies it automatically when your request matches its **When to use** conditions. Try prompts like the following:

- *Build a 12-slide on-brand deck for our Q3 business review.*
- *Rebrand this existing deck onto our template.*
- *Add three slides to the deck we built last week.*

## Things to know

Keep the following in mind:

- Opal delivers decks as `.pptx` files only.
- The generated deck skill is live for everyone in your organization when configuration finishes.

## Update the skill

When Optimizely publishes an updated version, **Update** displays on the skill's card in the Skills Directory. Opal keeps the information you provided during configuration and asks only for anything the updated version adds. To correct answers that are no longer accurate, edit the installed skill.
